Review

Never having owned an SDR receiver of my own, my experience in this field is limited to occasional hours of playtime with the radios of my numerous ham radio-friends. To name but a few those were RTL-SDR, Kiwi, Perseus, some obscure dongles and what have you. For me, all those receivers had one thing in common: complicated in varying degrees and not really user-friendly. As a consequence I never really saw any reason to change my long-held conviction: radio and computer dont go together, you either use the one or the other!
Now as of late, 2 separate individuals among my acquaintances starting to speak highly of one particular SDR receiver, the family of SDRplay models. And then, about 3 weeks ago, the opportunity presented itself that I could spend an hour or so with the radio of one of those guys, the model RSPdx-R2. And what can I tell you: I was hooked from the start! All my misgivings and my prejudice gone within that short time I spent in my mate's home. And instantly I decided, it must have been a sign from above that made me wait all those years before becoming seriously interested to buy one of those receivers. But now it was time...
So, last week I took delivery of my SDRplay RSPdx-R2 and believe me: I greatly enjoy it every day! No need to go into detail about all the details and the graphics (GREAT!), it's all covered in detail on the internet.
My final words are: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
